When painting a figure, the artist is drawn to the line of the body. It's the line that is cherished and it's what gives the sitter character.
Modigliani, Portrait of the Artist's Wife, Jeanne Hebuterne, 1918,
Norton Simon Foundation, Pasadena.

This lady's overall line has a feeling of frigid loneliness, yet the subtle
curve from the back of her neck to her shoulders
bring out a somber elegance.
Picasso, Girl in Chemise, 1905, Tate Collection, London.

When Giacometti sculpted a figure, he thought of the shadow it cast,
and the figure became a single elongated line.
Giacometti, Standing Woman, 1959, Tate Collection, London.

The more abstract the better, steel curves and diamond links
remind me of a very fun stiletto.
Brancusi, Endless Column, 1938, Targu-Jiu, Romania.
How would you express your line?
Trend: same color tights and shoes

Black was the new black this winter, and this will always remain a staple for the colder months. The Oak loose fitting satin shirt-dress paired with the ebony tights and pumps elongate while
giving edge to her line.

Extend your line with color. Spring will be all about wedges, and if you've got the Coin to spend on these babies for $299, go to pixiemarket. Blue tights have been rampant on the streets of NYC, especially in the shade of snorkel and royal blue from American Apparel, $15-20.00.

Opaque gray tights with gray wedges gracefully elongate as seen during Milan Fashion Week. Find a richer, darker version of the gray wedge with an added twist of a patent cap toe
from Faryl Robin, $95.19.

Loeffler Randall keeps the eye moving with this red vs. red look. I adore the extra pop from the red flower embellishment on those great pumps.
Ooh la la, I think I'm in love.
*Nude legs + nude shoes, would be a fab elongating look for Spring and Summer. Behold, the best resource when you're on a serious, i mean serious hunt for goodies: shopstyle.com.
